| Dear Museum Members,
These are days of transformation for the Huntsville Museum of Art as we continue efforts to move the Masterpiece In the Making Capital Campaign forward. A successful campaign by its very nature can take an organization to its next level of maturity and achievement of its mission and goals. Without a doubt, such a transforming process is underway at your museum due to the success of the Campaign thus far. Many individuals and organizations have given generous amounts of their time, talent and resources to assure campaign goals are met or exceeded. As we wrap up this important effort, I look forward to celebrating the exciting results of our shared efforts.
Speaking of exciting news, a groundbreaking for the new wing will take place this upcoming June, and we will be in touch with you to confirm the date and time of this event. Construction will continue for the next 12-14 months and a reinvented Huntsville Museum of Art will be ready for our members and the public to enjoy by Thanksgiving 2009!
Spring 2008 is a perfect time to enjoy exhibitions at the Museum, with an elegant selection of humorous paintings by illustrator J.C. Leyendecker. If you’ve not seen the exhibition, The Inventions of Leonardo DaVinci, be certain to do so and bring the entire family. It’s one of the most engaging, hands-on exhibitions the Museum has presented in recent years. Later in the Spring you will be enchanted by the first-ever traveling exhibition of Shearwater Pottery: Three Generations of Southern Masters from the Hogan Collection. Also, experience contemporary art pottery, with a strong affinity for Shearwater, by modern master potter Robin Rodgers. Both exhibitions are celebrations of nature that will thrill audiences of all ages.
Special thanks are due to the Art Krewe, Women’s Guild and the Gala Committee for their tremendous efforts to create super successful events during the past few months. Each of these efforts are essential to the Museum’s ongoing fund-raising. Thanks also to all of our members for your ongoing support and passion for the Museum. This organization exists to serve this dynamic, growing community, and with each week we welcome more and more newcomers and old friends to the galleries. I look forward to seeing you here very soon.
Remember, great things are coming!
