Creative Ways with Colored Clays

Learn about a variety of clays to create proper form, proportion, shape and balance of functional pots. This workshop is for the intermediate to advanced student. Explore the use of engobes and slips as well as other finishing techniques. The purpose of the engobe can be as different as the varied forms it comes in: to give color to a piece; to improve the surface texture; to provide a ground to do further decoration on; and to add textures (i.e. incising sgraffito). Wheel throwing techniques will be utilized. Defining your style “to find your voice” through your creativity in ceramics. Demos, a slide presentation, and critiques included.

Workshop fee is $195 members/$210 non-members (includes clay and firing).

However, there will be no refund for cancellations within one week of the first class. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis! The Museum reserves the right to cancel classes which do not meet minimum enrollment requirements. This minimum enrollment is determined on an individual class basis. In case of cancellation by the Museum, the advance payment will be refunded to you.
